These units are unused and were intended for a locomotive automation system. The detectors were never installed as the project was cancelled.

“The device can work in time real. It is installed directly in the pipe of the oil lubrication system or tank. The sensor communicates using digital communications interfaces RS232 or RS485. The output data  acquired by the sensor head are linear values that relate to the amount of ferrous metal. Once the sensor head is saturated with debris (the level may also be set by the user), the device will launch a purge cycle.  During a purge cycle, the captured debris is removed from the sensor head and flows to a downstream oil filter. This returns all positions to a zero or “clean” state and then restarts the process. By analyzing the time between purges cyclical, via tracking software of the condition of the equipment, the sensor can predict more Bearing fatigue stages and gear boxes before it occurs failure catastrophic.”
