"The Fluke 90000A-xxxxx Interface Pods function as trouble-shooting test interfaces between the microprocessor circuitry of suspect circuit boards and the 9000-series or 9100-series mainframes.There are more than 50 microprocessor-specific Interface Pods. Although the architecture of the troubleshooter main frame is not specific to any microprocessor and is designed to accomodate processors with up to 32 address lines and 32 data lines, the interface pod adapts this general purpose architecture to a specific microprocessor, or microprocessor family. Each Interface Pod has a self-contained system with its own microprocessor, RAM, ROM, and I/O memory space.
The pod can run board-resident programs such as initialization and diagnostics.
The Interface Pod uses the board clock circuit ensuring that all tests are performed at the designed speed of the board.
The interface pod adapts the mainframe series to microprocessor-specific functions such as pin layout, status/control functions, interrupt handling, timing, size of memory space, and size of I/O space - all with merely a few key strokes.
Automatic bus line monitoring eliminates the need for probing and enables detection of both static and dynamic faults.
The pods have input protection circuitry against overvoltage and incorrect pod insertion.
A self-test socket is provided for quick confidence checks.
You can write test programs in a language independent of the actual microprocessor under test."
